2012 Subaru STI and WRX AccessPORT

2012 Subaru STI and 2012 Subaru WRX are shipping now, preloaded with performance enhancing Stage1 and Stage2 maps to get new users up and running with the push of a button. The AccessPORT also comes preloaded with our unique Non-Performance maps for fuel economy, valet parking and anti-theft to help protect your wallet and your investment.

The 2012 Subaru STI and WRX AccessPORTs come with all of the same features released on previous versions, including Real-Time tuning, Launch Control, Flat Foot Shift, Performance Monitoring, and Live Data and Datalogging of over 100 ECU monitors. A full list of AP-SUB-003 enhancements are available in the AP-SUB-003 AccessPORT Firmware Release Notes. All late-model Subaru AccessPORTs (AP-SUB-003) can be updated for free to support the 2012 STI and WRX with a simple firmware upgrade.

AccessTUNER Tuning Software 1.9.1.0-3119

Both AccessTUNER Race and AccessTUNER Pro tuning software packages have been updated to support the 2012 STI and WRX. 2012 STI and WRX owners can bring their cars to a professional tuner for a custom tune to maximize power output. Experienced self-tuners can download a free copy of AccessTUNER Race and make modifications to their own calibrations. Both software packages have access to our database of Off-The-Shelf maps. These are great starting points for your custom tunes. Existing AccessTUNER users can update their existing software to the latest version following these Step-By-Step Software Update Instructions. New AccessTUNER Race users can acquire their copy of the software by filling out the AccessTUNER Race Request Form.

In addition, AccessTUNER receives new features to include an axis label to better identify ECU flash type (Reflash Only, Realtime/Reflash, Realtime Only), new labels to better identify the Multiply and Edit dialog boxes and a bug fixes that addresses the disconnect issue experienced by some users when writing large amounts of real-time data using AccessPORT passthrough as well fixes the Manage Maps button to launch AccessPORT Manager. COBB Tuning is best known for the AccessPORT, a handheld ECU reflash/reprogramming device. The AccessPORT is by far the best plug and play engine management solutions available. The current AccessPORT v2 allows users to not only upload off-the-shelf and custom maps but in the process of "marrying" the unit to the car it downloads the OEM map and stores it. COBB Tuning is proud to announce updates to the MAZDASPEED AccessTUNER engine management software and Off-The-Shelf maps that remove the Load Cap roadblock to producing prodigious amounts of horsepower and torque while still providing all of the sophistication and safety inherent in the stock ECU.

COBB Tuning continues to push the envelope in stock ECU engine management control by removing the “load cap” that has prevented enthusiasts from achieving maximum gains from larger than stock turbochargers. Through ongoing ECU discovery, software development and internal and external testing, COBB Tuning has created a tunable solution to alter the load cap parameters, allowing Professional and Enthusiast tuners to break through the 400whp barrier within the stock ECU!

An all-new version of AccessTUNER is now available for download from COBBTuning.com and features this new “load cap” removal as well as other new features that simplify and speed up the tuning workflow.

CALCULATED LOAD MAX
Max Load adjustment tuning has been added into AccessTUNER Race and Pro to compensate for how much air (gram/cyl) the ECU will recognize. This is a critical parameter for higher HP applications due to the fact that the ECU is not able to properly calculate fuel requirements when demand exceeds the load cap. If the load cap is set too low, a lean condition occurs, getting worse as the delta of actual load goes further beyond the load cap.

COBB Tuning has added two new tables to AccessTUNER, called Calc Load Max A and Calc Load Max B. These are RPM referenced tables with a value that presents a max allowed value for the airflow portion of the Calc Load. Altering these tables effectively allows the tuner to increase the maximum load values allowing for more airflow and proper fueling.

NEW FEATURES
COBB Tuning’s AccessTUNER engine management software for the MAZDASPEED now includes pass-through tuning, which allows the user to flash maps from a laptop computer directly to the ECU. All AccessPORT users can now switch their AccessPORT to “pass through” mode to directly interface with the ECU from their laptop. This also allows users to view live ECU data and Datalog directly to their laptop. Users can set and view live ECU data parameters from their laptop for seamless data viewing and acquisition.

UPDATED OTS MAPS
COBB Tuning has also released updated Off-the-Shelf (OTS) maps with the load cap removed and these are available for download from our AccessPORT Map Database. All OTS maps have been upreved to v1.05 for MAZDASPEED3 and v1.07 for MAZDASPEED6. These new maps are also bundled with the latest firmware update, allowing users to update their OTS maps through a firmware update using AccessPORT Updater.

  • Once you are ready to flash a map (created new map in tuner or loaded a map in tuner), ensure the AP is fully booted up and at the main menu.
  • Then select ECU-->Flash Map from the tuning software menu.
  • Follow the directions relayed from AccessTUNER to finish the flash process. (When to key on/off, when to not interrupt the flash process, etc.)
